Warren Piece
Warren Piece is a community of folks promoting opportunities to connect with the land.
At Warren Piece, people and nature flourish together. Our aim is to attract folks who wish to live lightly on the land, with a sense of purpose, and just the right amount of frivolity.
We envision a place where individuals from all walks of life come together to share knowledge, build lasting relationships, and work collaboratively toward a healthy environment.
Warren Piece Co. BeginningsWarren Piece began in 2002 when a group of friends purchased and began protecting 100 acres of land in Warren County. Originally established as a private land trust, WP Co transitioned to a non-profit organization in 2024. Guided by the dedication, vision, and grit of the original members, we are now planting seeds of reciprocity with the earth and with the surrounding community.
Led by the Conservation Council, the Warren Piece community of volunteers share in the responsibilities of prairie, woods, and wetlands maintenance, while creating opportunities for people to develop a kinship with nature.

A way forward…
for the People & the Prairie!
Our VisionWe envision a future where:
Conservation, community, and creativity intertwine, shaping a legacy of stewardship for generations to come. A future where the the land is restored, protected, and thriving. Where prairie, forest, and wetland ecosystems are cared for with intention and respect. Where all people are welcomed and valued. And where we gather to learn, celebrate, and cultivate relationships with each other and the natural world. We live lightly on the land and embrace practices that regenerate us rather than deplete us.
We envision a future where humans are not separate from nature; we’re part of it.
“If one [pecan] tree fruits, they all fruit— there are no soloists. Not one tree in a grove, but the whole grove; not one grove in the forest, but every grove; all across the county and all across the state... What happens to one happens to us all. All flourishing is mutual.”

We are building a space where everyone-regardless of their background or identity can connect, collaborate and thrive. Our approach is rooted in cooperation, transparency, and reciprocity; ensuring that every voice is heard and valued.
Conservation
We are passionate stewards of the land, committed to the long-term health of the prairie, woodland, wetland, and Big Pine Creek ecosystems. We prioritize sustainability, conservation, and restoration in all our efforts, from our agricultural practices to the protection of natural habitats. Our goal is to preserve this land for future generations, maintaining its biodiversity and ecological balance.
Education
We believe that education is key to fostering a connection to nature and inspiring meaningful action. We are dedicated to providing educational opportunities that empower individuals to understand and engage with the environment. Through outreach, programming, and hands-on experiences, we promote lifelong learning and a sense of responsibility toward the natural world.
Inclusion
Nature is for everyone, and we’re determined to do our part in giving everyone a chance to experience it. WP is a space where diversity and identities are valued and supported. No matter who you are or where you come from, we’re here to remove the barriers that stop you from connecting with nature.
