Tater Fry!
Autumn signals our annual Tater Fry! Come one, come all! We will gather to enjoy nature and friends, fry foods in big vats over campfires, squish apples, make cider, enjoy a potluck dinner and live music, go on hayrides or walks through the Scary Prairie, and... lots of us will camp overnight; you are welcome to join us!

Perseids Meteor Shower Event
Since the peak falls at the start of the work week, we’re inviting you to enjoy the Perseid meteor shower a little early—Saturday night! While the full moon on August 9 will brighten the sky and will limit visibility, the Perseids rarely disappoint.

NICHES Landtrust Mindfulness Hike "Awe"
Attendees will enjoy a nighttime awe-themed Mindfulness Hike to see the fireflies with special guest entomologist Tom Turpin.

July Community Potluck and Conservation Council Meeting
Let’s share a delicious potluck lunch and catch-up on what we’ve been doing and strengthen our commitment to living lightly on the Earth. This is an opportunity to reconnect as a community.

May Day Celebration
Join us for an annual celebration of spring, friends, food, music, and community! Please bring a dish for a potluck, a camp chair, musical instruments, & plants for a garden plant exchange.

Mushroom Log Inoculation
Learn how to grow your own Shiitake mushrooms! Learn the basics of mushroom log inoculation, and participate in a guided, step-by-step inoculation process. All participants will get to take home up to two inoculated mushroom logs.

Full Moon Hike
Join us for a guided evening hike under the full moon’s glow. Explore the prairie at night, learn about spring peepers, and be serenaded by their lively calls. If the skies are clear, participants will get to take part in stargazing and spot constellations.

Woodcock Walk
Join us for the sights and sounds of spring as we listen for the “Peent! Peent! Peent!” of our twilight-dancing feathered friends, the American Woodcock aka Timberdoodle. The male woodcocks’ sky dances of upward spirals and downward swoops are a spectacular sight.
